I recently posted about buying a Bluetooth OBDII scanner. I asked here about if there is a particular one that I should be looking to buy. The replies suggested that I get an ELM327.
I bought an DBPower CY-B03 from Newegg. It got 4 out of 5 eggs and was smaller than the CY-B05 and CY-B06. I liked that it was so compact because the location of the scan port on my 2003 VW Passat and 1996 Mazda Miata might have my knee hitting the adapter while driving.
Unfortunately, I can't get 'Torque' (the app that most people here seem to use) to connect with my scan tool. It'll find it and it'll sync with it, but it keeps on asking if the engine is running. I tried the tool on my work truck 2003 Chevy Blazer and on my daughter 1998 Ford Contour and it worked great. So, I know that it isn't the tool or the app.
I did a google search and did take a look at the VW forums that I belong to. There are a lot of posts about VW, OBDII, and Torque and I just figured that I'd post here and ask if anyone had a similar problem or if anyone has a scan tool that is known to work with the VW or Audi's?
FWIW: I have not yet tried tweaking the 'faster communication' or 'disable ELM327 auto timing adjust' in the settings yet. Both of them suggest that changing *might* help communications with the car. Hopefully I'll get to try them today.
