I was in Luray a couple of weeks ago and I saw a guy run by on one of these ElliptiGO machines. (outdoor elliptical machine)

It was pretty weird looking to be honest.

There was a triathalon going on that same weekend so he could have been warming up.

First thought: hahahaha

Second thought: need some Vibram monkey toe shoes to go with that thing!

Third thought: man, your legs would look awesome

Fourth thought: that's actually kind of a great idea. I love my elliptical for cardio, it makes sure I don't shift into neutral like I can on an exercise bike.

Saw infomercial and print adds for them. Come with gears like a bike. Probably works OK in town and areas that are pretty flat.

Anything over about 15mph would seem to have a lot of wind resistance though. It and the "rider" are not exactly aero.

I've seen one or two around and I think it's a great idea for people who need to do low-impact exercise. Doing elliptical indoors is kill-yourself boring. I could stand to do elliptical on that thing if it was pretty easy to pick up.

No kidding. The only way I can use my indoor elliptical machine is with Netflix. I tried it the other day with just music, too unmotivated to continue  But if I can get sucked into an episode of 24 or something, I can easily do 45 minutes without a hitch.
