sorry if this is the wrong forum...I need to know how good elixir ram is?? anyone know?

I have P4 2.4B 533 @2.9..160 fsb using Crucial pc 2100 256x2 @160 Cas 2-2-6

I wonder if I could run the CPU at 160mhz and the ram at 200 mhz...on a IT7-Max 2 rev 2

I use elixir pc3500, but can only run at 400 speed with spd and "normal" on the timings. My msi 655 max board doesn't use numbers for timings, but "normal", "fast" etc. On a gigabyte board, I was able to run at 423 with this memory. Gigabyte set this board slightly overvolted, making it possible to run at the faster setting. I would try for 166 and 1:1 ratio, and you might have to bump up the memory voltage to 2.6 or 2.7. I also use the 2.4b, but mine won't run stable above 150, no matter how high I set the voltage. I would definately use case 2.5; elixir sometimes won't post with case 2. You won't notice the difference.

Thanks..actually the crucial was at cas 2.5...no biggie..I have run my crucial and P4 at 166 but does crash now in the more intensive 3d games..so I backed down to 160 fsb...

Hmm...maybe the Elixir ram is not worth it....I have a 3:4 and 4:5 ratio so I was hoping to run the ram faster than the cpu

does it use winbond chips ?

it should almost certainly be better than the mem you have now tho
maybe with a voltage bump you can get it to run at 210 or 220

never heard anyone in these forums say anything about it tho

OK..this stuff is crap...it will not run at 200mhz on my mobo....cas 2.5/3/3/7 with 2.8v...tried on dimm sockets

The elixir version of the centon ram is not very good for my mobo anyway...

Well gotta take it back to CC now....

PS clearly this not winbond chips...I checked elixir website...
