Elite Member Status before 2000th Post...why?

Is this a forum bug, or are the MODS/Administrators issuing Elite Member statuses before that particular member has even posted his/her 2000th post?

Elite status is given based on contribution to the forum, instead of by post count. ;)

Ok...I was just wondering cuz I saw one member who had less then 800 post and was an Elite Member. Damn, I guess you haven't contributed anything SP, with 4000+ post you're still a Diamond in the ruff.

[EDIT]

BTW: I remember there was a list showing the stepping, where can I find that?

When Elitiness first started there was a rule that you had to have 3K posts, I believe.

That was my belief too, but I guess we've turn into a Government here.

snow patrol has contributed alot, at least in my opinion, and I know many others feel the same way. He has just not been recognized for that yet. Hopefully soon... ;)

<< Some of you may have noticed that a new status, "Elite Member" has begun appearing. There is also some speculation as to how this is
achieved, so here is some clarification.

1. A minimum of 2000 posts to the BBS, BUT post total is not the only criteria.

2. Length of time as a member, while important, is not specifically defined. But, racking up a couple thousand posts right after joining is not going
to get you there.

3. The members contribution must be valuable to the other members. This does not necessarily mean one who answers many hardware
questions, but also members who post entertaining, enlightening, educational, or just plain fun material.

4. The member must be supportive of the BBS, and of AnandTech. To clarify this, it will not matter if you have 10,000 posts if you feel compelled
to personally attack my Moderators when they are just trying to do their job.

This is not to say that constructive criticism and suggestions aren't welcome. They are. But, many of you seem to think it's okay to throw stones
at people who volunteer their time out of a love for AnandTech.

This status is granted on an individual basis, and is not automatic. The granting of this status is at the sole discretion of the Administrator.

Zorba - that post was from quite a long time ago (Feb 23rd actually). They've since dropped the 2k post req. I think the others are still in effect.

I agree, I was being sarcastic. Because IMO It?s now become a matter of personal preference, which is really sad. .

<< The member must be supportive of the BBS, and of AnandTech. >>

If that's so why not give all members who spend hours, weeks, months and even years using thier computers for TA-RC5 an Elite status?

<< Snow's probably contributed more than some elites. >>

Again I agree, and I?m sure a lot of others who are not Elite are too, and that?s why I say it?s sad. Anyway, nothing to get all exciting about

BTW: I?m sure this post eliminates all chances of becoming Elite.:Q

I figured, I was just throwing another plug in there for him. Can't blame a girl for trying... ;)
