It's more than just hypocricy...

We are not talking about someone who proclaims he is against something then is secretly taking part. That would be hypocrisy. We are talking about someone who prosecuted people for this same crime. That is corruption. It is serious. It has nothing to do with puritanism. Every case he prosecuted should be called into question.

The question is, other than losing his job and being convicted of a minor federal offense, will there be any other avenues of redress available for those he crushed as the Attorney General of the State of New York?

No there will not. Only because others will be afraid of their own skeletons coming out when the opposition party takes over.

When I first heard this story I thought, oh boy, another sanctimonious politico gets hoisted by his own petard. Now I'm beginning to wonder if the actual story is quite a bit deeper and murkier.

Supposedly one of Spitzer's banks became suspicious of a few 2-3 thousand dollar transfers he did, and brought in the feds. Supposedly they were concerned with possibly bribery, and instituted the wiretaps, etc. that caught Spitzer.

If you know anything about escort services, or the porno industry in general, you will know that they frequently have shell, innocent sounding companies to process payments, esp. credit card payments. That's what Spitzer was doing.

If you know anything about Spitzer's history, he made his reputation by being an insufferable pr*ck to Wall Street fatcats as a DA, delighting in humuliating them with the perp walk, etc. He has made some very powerful enemies.

To me a very interesting area to explore would be exactly how these back records came to light and by whom. I'm highly suspicious that Wall Streeters got their revenge on Spitzer by illegally snooping in his records.

1) Does your finacee know that you feel that way?

2) How would you feel about another man knocking the bottom out of your fiance? (If you're one of those guys who is into that sorta thing, I'll drop it... but I suspect you're not)

3) How do you feel about non-hypocrits who think you're an immoral scumbag?

My fiancee knows that I love her very much.

She also knows that women are attracted to me. She even has nightmares about it and doesn't trust me being alone with her girlfriends. It's not because I've done anything wrong. It's because she actually thinks I'll seduce them (her words). Even when were alone she criticizes me for the way I look and act (fearing I'll do the same to others).

men != women. If another man was fucking her, then 99% it wouldn't just be about sex. Either way, some unimaginable events would come our way. For men, it's just about sex.

People are free to think what they like, so long as they're honest with themselves.

She thinks society needs to come to terms that keeping a man monogamous for 50+ years is an unrealistic goal and we are simply setting up marriages to fail. Some other countries have figured this out, as far as monogamy, where girlfriends on the side are an understood part of many long term marriges, and are not seen as infringing on the sanctity of the family the way it does here. Why do strip clubs for men and female prostitutes outnumber their counterparts 100 to 1? Men desire lots of sexual diversity, and while we of course can keep faithful, statistics would argue it goes against our nature. Why fight it? With divorce rates even higher in those parts of the country where family values are actually supposed to mean something (i.e. not CA/NY) maybe we need to redefine the institution. Well, we already are, but I don't think we've seen the end of the road just yet.

You are right. We need to tax only men and support women to be single at home Moms. Sperm can be collected from say the top ten percent of performing intellectual and athletic men. Men can get sex where they can.

It's this all or nothing mentality causing the 50% divorce rate. We can keep battling human nature or accept it and adjust.

Banks are required by law to contact the IRS over ANY suspicious financial activity, apparently it went on for over a year, investigations didnt begin until last Oct.

He got caught because he was structuring payments. You structure payments over and over again over the course of a year, you are going to get investigated.

A bank told the IRS, the IRS told the FBI. The FBI got him.

Ummm. I think you misunderstood what I meant. My statement was not in reference to sex or cheating. It was a generalized observation. Except in the eyes of the law, men != women. Usually, we have different interests, responsibilituies, wants, etc...

Of course they do. Women will usually have sex with a guy after they've had some emotional attachement to him. For guys, they could care less about emotional attachment.

I absolutely said no such thing. Everyone has a different emotional reatction to sex, we are all different. Perhaps you should re-read the quotes above a little more carefully again and report back your findings.

What's stopping a female from falling for a guy in one night? Emotional attachments are not involved? Of course, she could just be horny... But usually it takes convincing from the guy...then they wonder why he doesn't call.

Nothing stops anyone from falling for someone in one night, but emotional attachment generally doesn't happen on dance floors.

Jebus, WTH is going on here?

I feel like I'm in the Love & Relationship forum, and the thread happens to have a politition's name mentioned every 20 posts or so.

Can I get some help fixing my car? Or maybe ask to see benchies on the new gfx card?

I was checking in here to see if there were any updates, on like the guy resigning or something equally OT to this thread.

Dari, at this point I'm forced to demand :camera: of your fiance or move for bannage. ;)

OK Moonie, I don't think your crystal ball could have been clearer. Holy cow!

Wait, you're denying that men and woman have different emotional reactions to sex? Seriously? This is when being on an anonymous forum has serious drawbacks because you can't tell who the 40 yr old virgin is.

Of course they do. Women will usually have sex with a guy after they've had some emotional attachement to him. For guys, they could care less about emotional attachment.

So one night stands only exist in the realm of gay males? You to jokers can't be this clueless, can you?

What's stopping a female from falling for a guy in one night? Emotional attachments are not involved? Of course, she could just be horny... But usually it takes convincing from the guy...then they wonder why he doesn't call.

Nothing stops anyone from falling for someone in one night, but emotional attachment generally doesn't happen on dance floors.

No, it happens when he complements her on her dance skills. It happens when he offers to buy her a drink. It happens when they start talking over drinks. It happens when they try to find somewhere quiet to talk... It happens. Of course, for guys, it's all a game to fuck 'em. For the ladies, they're probably thinking "he's cute" or "I wonder if he has a girlfriend" or "he's hot" and that opens them up for the kill...
