Eliminating Dual Boot Startup Screen

I know I've seen this discussed here but can't find the thread.

How do you eliminate the bootloader screen when Win2k starts up? I've taken the plunge and stopped my dual booting of Win2000 and 98 and just load Win2k now.

I found the boot.ini file, where the info is located. Can I just delete this or is there more to it than that? I want the Win2k OS to load as fast as possible.

You can force Win2k to boot without displaying the menu even without manually editing your boot.ini file. Go to control pannel and open the system applet, click on the advanced tab, click on startup and recovery, make sure "Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect is selected as the default operating system, and either uncheck the check box next to "display list of operating systems for __ seconds" or enter a value of 0 in the seconds box. You will be rid of the menu. But don't be tempted to delete the boot.ini file though. Win2k still uses the file to point itself to the proper hard drive and partition containing Win2k during bootup even if you are not using the boot menu.
