Currently have a Palm Pre+ (Updated to WebOS 2.1 with help from the modders). Got a text from Verizon today that I can do an upgrade now instead of December at a discount. Should I? Any great phones I should jump on now or would it be better to wait? Not in a huge rush but starting to feel the itch...

THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE GURUs

Unless you just want a Bionic no reason to right now, with more promising things in the next 2 months or so I'd wait (and I am :p). Also that might be an online upgrade only.

Another vote to wait. I know there's always stuff coming 'around the corner', but the stuff will be out by years end. :p

If you would be happy with the Bionic and this deal will save you money, do it.

If you want one of the phones dropping in the last part of this year, wait.

HTC Vigor, Iphone 5, Droid Prime all within the next two months, I'd wait.

Keep in mind an iPhone has incredible resale value compared to other phones. So even if you plan on switching to Android, it might be worth it to wait, get the iPhone, resell it, then get the phone you want.

AT's preview of the Bionic shows dismal battery life. ~3hrs on their browsing tests, thats barely above the Tbolt. Pretty sure with some tweaking, it could be improved dramatically. And Blur is undeniably dragging it down too.

I'd wait just a bit longer, see if someone comes up with a more efficient LTE chipset...

No reason to upgrade ATM, Verizon has already gone to tiered data...

The Bionic will drop in price soon so.......

It just came out it will be a month or two before that happens.

I am personally waiting on the Droid 4G, I was hopping the D3 would be 4g but its name would not be fitting haha.

Looking like Summer of 2012 for me but thats fine. Perfectly happy with my DroidX

Seriously? Just becuse it has blur 3.0 does not mean its the same as the horrible blur 1.0.

Also many people have gotten decent battery life with the bionic with 4g on, its the 4G that sucks on the power.

You won't get a real improvement in LTE battery life until the die shrink and new chipsets.

Thanks for all your replies. I'm going to wait a while.

I'm open to anything at this point but and IPhone is most appealing to me right now because it's not that big and has good battery life. I don't really like Apple but that seems like the best combo for me.

I'm in a similar spot. I have 2 lines on my account that are non-smart phones, and would qualify for the $100 discount. With corp disc, I could pick up the Bionic for $150 AND still have my NE2 discount on my actual line. Since that discount ends at the end of this month, I'm debating about doing it anyways. Would get me on 4G for now, and when the Prime or Vigor or something else come out I could use NE2 to upgrade then and switch the Bionic to one of my other lines.

If you are upgrading and you currently have the $30 unlimited data plan, you can keep it. At least, I was able to.

A buddy of mine with the Droid Bionic bought the extended battery for 25$ and his lasts all day long he says. Has it rooted, hot-spotted, etc.
