This doesn't belong in that article:
In February 2009, consumers won't have much choice. That's when the Federal Communications Commission has mandated that all analog broadcasts cease.

the whole article is stupid, from top to bottom

'who the hell is gonna buy a $70,000 tv?!?'

'you'd better start saving!'

'we're all going to have to buy plasma tvs in 2009!'

i mean, who is going to buy a maybach?

In 2009 there will be a wider variety of products on the market.
You will not NEED to buy a $70,000 TV.

If I wanted that large of screen, I would just buy a projector. For even half of what you'd spend on that plasma, you could have one of the nicest 1080 projectors on the market.

yup yoyo, i was about to post that. It's the ratio of width to height, not diagonal length to height.

you are wrong

A 103" 16:9 TV is 89.8"x50.5". Shaq is approx 85" tall. Close enough.

This isn't a proof.

I view 4:3 DirecTV content on it too. :p

Nemo ftw :p

When I took that pic I was using a sucky digicam. Any of the Pixar movies are a great way to show off your display though.

Yeah, I should take some shots of the Incredibles sometime.

But getting back to the thread, they could have said Yao Ming or something and gotten the width just about right. (or someone who is the right height exactly... I don't do the whole "sports" thing)

More self-ownage in this thread? Shaq already has an BS and an MBA, and said he would start working on his PhD in Criminology in 2006.

WTF is up with the need to be disparaging about LSU in putting university in quotes??
LSU is as real as a university as any other state school out there.

Furthermore I think it is completely outstanding that you have a major sports figure who really believes in the benefit of an education. That entire "role model" thing going on.
