Elevator Etiquette

Hypothetically situation. Say you are about to enter an elevator and there is one person in it facing the back of the elevator. What is your first reaction to that person?

Another hypothetical situation. You are riding the elevator down. The elevator stops on a floor and a person walks in and faces all of you who are riding down. What is your first reaction? How do you feel?

Is this an assignment for psych class that you are trying to avoid by gathering opinions here instead of going out and doing the experiment like you are supposed to?

Anyway, I'd stare at the person's forehead, go slack jawed, and tilt my head.

I don't quite get it. So when you are on an elevator it is a no-no to look at people or what? Are you supposed to stare at the floor?

For someone facing the back of the elevator, I'd look at them funny initially then ignore them. For someone facing me, if it were a guy I'd ask what his problem was. If it were a (decent looking) girl, I'd probably try a bit of flirting.

I like to go into an elevator and face the corner. Sometime I plan on just crouching down and crying in a crowded elevator for S&Gs.
