Wasn't sure where to put this...

Processors?

Hardware?

It's not really off topic...?

Seeing something like this really makes you wonder how smart AI will get. COULD there actually be a Matrix, a Judgment Day, a War Games?

JUST how smart will computers become?

If we can store VAST amounts of knowledge in a machine and it can extract and use this data faster than humans, what MIGHT happen?

at what point does it become... sentient?

Well, according to The Matrix Revolutions:

Rama-Kandra: No. I don't mind. The answer is simple. I love my daughter very much. I find her to be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. But where we are from, that is not enough. Every program that is created must have a purpose; if it does not, it is deleted. I went to the Frenchman to save my daughter. You do not understand?
Neo: I just have never...
Rama-Kandra
: ...heard a program speak of love?
Neo: It's a... human emotion.
Rama-Kandra: No, it is a word. What matters is the connection the word implies. I see that you are in love. Can you tell me what you would give to hold on to that connection?
Neo
: Anything.
Rama-Kandra: Then perhaps the reason you're here is not so different from the reason I'm here.

I know it's just a movie, but I thought these lines were rather poignant...

The Matrix is indeed an over the top action flick, but the philosophy behind it is solid. It would be great if the server streaming this video could think fast enough to stream it smoothly. As "great" as IBM is you would think they could host their own video, and not rely on google's servers...
