I have a 3/4 empty can of "zero residue" cleaner really intended for precision electronics cleaning. It must be 12-15 years old.

It says it's good for "photographic film" on the back so I am guessing it's really supposed to be residue free. I wanted to spray the lens down with this, because wiping can cause scratches.
Not knowing if its really residue free, I sprayed some on a dark ceramic plate that I made absolutely sure its spotless to test it.
After it evaporated, there's residue that smells like rubber. No way I'm using it on my camera lens.
Did they make it like this or is this crap stale?
