Awhile ago, I posted this thread. Well I finally got around to trying this, mainly because I have another project involving schematics and making PCB's. I need to figure out if I drew this out right.
Demon-Xanth's instructions were:

LMK if it's anything close to what it should be. If not, don't laugh too hard, or spit carbonated drinks on your computers.
I probably violated several hundred schematic rules, but hopefully it's understandable.
Thanks goes to ExpressPCB for their freeware programs. (Though the printouts have a grid pattern on, which I can't get rid of - and I need to be without the grid.)

Use a LM393 (comparator)
Pin 1: tie a 100 ohm to 1k resistor between it and pin 8, attach the LED to this pin and ground
Pin 2: attach a 1k resistor going to pin 8, and another to pin 4
Pin 3: this is your input
Pin 4: ground
Pins 5, 6, and 7: tie it to pin 4
Pin 8: tie to +5V
