not having a paper ballot is different... i like cramming mine into the ballot box and then the little old lady giving me a "i voted" sticker... i didn't get an "i voted sticker"... and why are voting booths always manned by little old ladies?

<--- voted for everyone running uncontested

Thousands, and I would say not very. They are VERY basic machines, similar to a cash register. If you were into hacking those, I guess you could do a voting machine.
