Uh, the voting in 2000 in Florida was NOT electronic. There was a problem with so-called Butterfly Ballots. That is what electronic voting is supposed to fix. They have a ways to go before it'll be acceptable for a presidential election, though.
I worked the polls in CA and we used these new electronic voting things and the only problem that we had was that people could cast their ballots before choosing something from each category...so many voters came back and asked if they would finish their ballot, but of course that wasn't possible.
I know there are thousands of "hanging chads" that dont count becasue it is not considered a valid vote. So there is no big deal with failure of technology to vote, as long as the same percentage of votes are vaild.
