Electronic locks malfunctioning

When I parked my car at the gym last night, I couldn't get the driver's door lock to engage using my remote (aftermarket alarm and immobilizer). I pressed the button on the remote and the other 3 doors locked but the driver's door lock got stuck for half a second, and then popped back up.

I was able to release the lock on the driver's door manually (held the outside lever and pulled up on the lock). I tried the remote again and it didn't work. So I had to lock the door manually (and I wasn't able to use the alarm).

I have had some intermittent lock issues with the car before (each of the doors has independently refused to lock at some point, but after a manual release they're fine). However, these have been one-offs, and the lock in question has always worked after the incident.

I'm not sure why the driver's lock is "sticking" when using the electronic mechanism but not the manual method. Any idea what the problem is and how much it might cost to fix?

TIA

Actually I had a similar thing happen with my '04 RSX a few weeks ago. It was during an unusually cold period for the boston area (temps in the 0-15F range). Mine went back to working with the remote once the temp warmed up.

Interesting. I could see how the locks would have trouble in the cold. My locks started working again as of yesterday, so who knows. It had rained a lot in the day prior, although it wasn't cold, so maybe the moisture is a problem too.

I had the same problem with my old Galant. The problem was that water/condensation was building up on the [door switch/lock] circuit board, causing shorts. I had to take it apart and retrace some of the circuit paths with some conductive ink. In some places the board had lifted up, causing intermittent connection.

Maybe you should take out your switches and take a look at them? Should be something you can fix yourself. My Galant had huge traces on the board, so it was easy to see where the damage was at.

Or you can buy one, lol. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW It's held together by a couple of screws, and then you just open it to see the board. It's extremely easy to check.
