electronic kits and notes

i was wondering if kits are available for newbies who do not know a bit abt electronics...that includes terms like "resistance, voltage, impedance etc.."....or is there any site for this information?....I think to use those kits one needs to know a bit abt electronic jargon right?....can anyone help by providing a URL?

Radio Shack has some really good kits. They use spring terminals, so you can tear them apart when you are done. Check them out.
