Here's my history with EA.

Motor City Online - released with many bugs unfixed that were known about in beta, poorly marketed, and poor developer support after it's release... all this lead to it's demise after just ONE year

Battlefield 1942 - by default, it only allows a refresh rate of 60 Hz because it seems to be designed around the Windows XP refresh rate bug, and if you've fixed the XP bug, BF1942 won't work until you fix it too... it's now gone through about 6 updates/patches, and they STILL haven't changed the 0 to a 1 by default in the video configuration file

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 - doesn't remember graphics preferences... keeps auto detecting hardware and setting graphics preferences to it's own liking

NHL 2003 - doesn't work at all... installs fine, but crashes to desktop upon launch... I contacted EA tech support, sent them dxdiag results because they always ask for them... what's the first thing they tell me to do? "please run dxdiag and send the results file" ... idiots... so I resend it... then they tell me to install the latest video card drivers, which if they even looked at my dxdiag results, they'd see I already have the latest... so I told them I already have the 53.03 drivers installed... so they tell me to install the latest nVidia APU drivers because I guess they saw that I have an nForce2 motherboard and put 2 and 2 together, except they got 5 instead of 4... because if they looked down at the sound section, they'd see I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS.


How in the hell does a company survive like this? They produce inferior products, and do a piss poor job of supporting their junk products.

I got FIFA 2004, and this game is SH!T compared to the PS2 and XBox. I'm like WTH man, my cousins games look so much better and characters are more detailed then this re-hash of a game I got.

The refresh rate problem is with me also, the games menu is in 640x480, while I play on 1280-1024 I changed so often I'm afraid im going to blow the tube off the CRT.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is mediocre and has a lot of teams. But the support and setup could be easier.

I could not get Madden 2003 to work on my pc and I tried everything. Finally after a few weeks of on and off playing around with it, I tried using one of those no-cd crack files from a website I seen posted here and I'll be damn,it work. Man is that game a blast and I "may" end up getting Madden 2004 sometime in the future. ..Maybe

Strange though how it wouldn't work when I tried to play the regular way using the cd and I have two cd rom players...It would always just crash to desktop.

Just make sure you download the patch for it if you use an nVidia card... Madden 2004 doesn't work with the 53.03 drivers without that patch... it took them about 3 months to create a patch for it...

regardless of whether they are cracked or not, EA still releases crap products.


If I were to pirate a game, EXACTLY the way it was released, just because it didnt work doesn't mean its cause its pirated. I'm not saying I condone pirating in any way, but sometimes it seems its better to do that just to make sure the game will work on your system, then to dish out 50 bucks only to find out the game won't work (or won't work without HOURS of time put into it)


And don't say return it, cause many retail stores don't let you return games once you open them for cash back, you can only exchange for same game. (CD key issues)


Bottom line, pirating isn't the problem. Inferior products and bad tech support is.

I think that EA tends to have a lot of projects going on at the same time, so I'll agree that their support is lacking. I'd like to see them scale back some so they can properly support their games.
