Electromagnetic Shielding for Insane Mods

I'm going to do a case mod similar to Bit-tech.net's awesome plasma globe in a pc. Plasma globes are supposed to produce EM that could be potentially lethal to nearby computer components.
Though bit-tech's system seemed ok w/o shielding, I don't want to take that risk. What kinds of shielding are best for use in a PC and most cost effective, and is there any general rule(s) to how much shielding is neccessary? Thanks for your help.

Q: What about interference, static, electromagnetic radiation, magnetic fields, tachyon beams, or other bad mojo that could result if I install this in my PC?

A: You have to make decisions on your own about whether the risk is worth it. But consider that this is more or less the same principle used in a fluorescent lamp, it's just round and has some different gases inside it. There's high voltage AC from the inverter. You'll want to be careful that you don't connect that to anything metal in your case. I took extra care to have nonconductive pieces only in touch with the globe surface. You'll want to make sure your chassis is properly grounded (earthed), and verify the outlet you are using for power is properly grounded/earthed as well. I've had no indication that running this in my case is different that using a neon or fluorescent lamp.

wfbberzerker, thanks for quoting the opinion of the guy who did this mod at bit-tech,
but I was looking for a second opinion from someone else who knows this stuff or has done this mod themself before I place a ball of captured lightning inside my PC:D

you cant do anything.

go stand on top of some tall building with a long bar of metal... there is nothing to not kill you when lightning strikes.

Since no one is being helpful, I thought I might. Try going here. If you don't find answers there, you can contact them or also try here or here. Though I know people who had problems with Magneticshield.com, so if you actually order something I wouldn't get it from them. They have info though.

anyone have the measuring gage ?
does earth grounding on cpu casing will reduce this EM (I think it is) ?
(forgive me to add more question)

faraday cage won't do anything if the sensitive components are in the same space as the orb. You will have insane static electricity emanating from the glass. static will be significantly less from the bottom glassless component. the best way to quench static is with water. if you could immerse the globe within another globe and fill the gap with water, whilst protecting the electrical component, you will reduce the amount of static. I'm not sure if the globe will still operate if the glass is in contact with water as opposed to air, and heat may come into play >>>glass expansion and cracking, and oh crap.

i guess the key is quench the static, or funnel it off somehow. getting water between your motherboard and the orb is the most powerful way to quench it.
