Hey folks. Last night the electricity went out and naturally my computer was running.. I thought nothing of it, but this morning when I tried to boot up it took forrreeeeverrrr. In fact, it never even did it on its own, I had to ctrl+alt+del and end task explorer.exe, then run task explorer.exe. Now it's doing this every time I boot..

I dunno why the electricity going out would cause this, but it might have been going on and off a few times if that makes a difference. It is hooked up to a surge protector.

I'm gonna try a defrag and cleaning up, but I was hoping someone would have some other ideas for when that doesn't work.

Thanks!

A suggestion, get a good name brand UPS for your computer, a surge suppressor does NOT give you any protection against AC electric loss !!!

You may very well have a corrupted operating system now. The computer may have been writing to the hard drive just as the power died.
