running wire shouldnt be too hard the main room downstairs has no drywall on the roof. the breaker box is up stairs. id say at most 200 feet total from breaker box to the 5 rooms

i need baseboard heaters in all those rooms to pass inspections...

Twenty bucks for a roll of wire and do it yourself? Oh, wait... 240V would put you in Europe most likely; twenty-five euros, then?

Im not an electrician but I wonder if you will have to upgrade your panel. How many amps do you have?

If you have to upgrade the panel I would guess about $500. Seems simple but have at least $200 in material alone. Your panel should have the capacity on it.

edit

This is if you can add a subpanel.

ok question 2, looks like i can just get a 120v heaters and remove an outlet and use the outlet for the power, which means no re-wiring. anyone know where to get 120v volt baseboard heaters. i cant find it at lowes or home depot

When you look at adding these heaters you are going to have to consider how much power they draw.

For regular house outlets you can have like 6-8 on 1 circuit. But if you install heaters you wont be able to have that many.

In other words say for instance you can have no more than 2 of these heater per circuit you are going to have to have 3 dedicated breakers. You may not even have 3 empty slots on your panel.

If you only have 100 amp service you are probably going to have to upgrade to at least 150 amp service which could run as much as $800 alone.

Like I said I am not an electrician and electrical work is my weakness, but noone else was chipping in.

1922, you have breakers right and not the old fuse breaker box?

Looking at another site it looks like a heaters between 30 inches and 72 inches vary between 4 and 13 amps each.

yeah there is a breaker box now, so if i use 5, one for each room and nothing else i should be fine right? assuming each room has its own breaker?

I believe in theory yes but each room is not going to be on its own breaker. These units might require a minimum of a 20 amp breaker.

If you have to get an inspection this might go beyond a DIY project.

ok ok i have an update. i checked my space heaters that i had plugged in at one time. and they are either 6.5 amps or 12 amps each, im not sure which model, but they all did run with no problem, i had like 5 plugged in at once and it didnt trip the breaker. so i would assume that these permanent ones would draw about the same amperage, between 4-12 amps so i might be ok

Boo yeah ok this is the space heater i used, it brought the temp up high enough, it just wasnt permanent so if i get something comparable and permanently install it, then it will be sufficient
