Electric Ukulele

I so want to build one, and I know how to build an electric guitar, but I have a few questions.

Rosewood or maple fretboard and neck? I'd imagine maple, because a uke is supposed to have a bright, twangy sound.

What pickup(s)? Humbucker? Single-coil? Wind it myself or just buy one for a bass?

Do I need the truss rod?

What strings will I need to buy?

Most importantly, how should it look? I'm thinking a Les Paul-shape body, nice teal-blue fade, painting on a couple hibiscus flowers, and then a french-gloss finish, with an an unfinished birds-eye maple board and clear-finish maple neck.
