I want to get electric razor-using people's thoughts on this. Is it true that there is an "adjustment period" as most manufacturers claim for an electric to work with your face?

I am extremely skeptical given that I see no way a fixed mechanical object can "adjust" to your face nor my face to it. This combined with the fact that the "adjustment period" of 30 days just happens to coincide with the return period makes me think that it is just BS.

I bought a top of the line Linear a while back after hearing some reviews that it worked on par with a M3 razor. I tried it for 2 days, it sucked ass, and I returned it. I really hope that someday an electric will come out that can actually do the area under the chin well because I hate getting cut when trying to get a close shave.

I think the "adjustment period" is moreso about your skin adjusting to the razor, rather than the razor adjusting to your skin...

I had a wierd feeling after using my electric razor for the first few times, but after a couple days it was gone...

These "cryogenically frozen" Mach 3 blades are supposed to shave better & be longer lasting:

Frequently Asked Questions
I noticed the packaging says Gillette, do they manufacture this blade? I've never seen these in retail stores.
Gillette makes the Mach 3 blades, we buy the blades, Cryo them and them resell them. The only place to buy Cryo'd Mach 3's is www.greatrazors.com
What is the difference between a "Cryo'd" blade and a regular one?
Our Cryo'd blades last 3 to 4 times longer and shave better. The reason our Cryo'd blades last so much longer is that we Cryogenically Temper the blades down to -300 F, this makes the metal stronger and more durable.
Does Gillette use this process?
Not that we know of, they are aware of our process but have chosen to sell blades that wear out sooner rather than later.
How did you freeze these without opening up the package?
Our Cryo process is very gentle, the temperature is lowered very slowly. This gradual temperature drop does not damage the package. So we can Cryo the razors right in the package. Just like the items in your freezer, the package stays intact. And since they stay at -300 F for 24 hours the cold goes right through the package and treats the metal blades.
The blades look just like regular blades, how can I tell that they are Cryo'd?
Shave with them, after a while you will be able to tell that they are definitely improved over regular blades. A Cryo'd blade will not pull and drag after use. The Cryo'd blade will eventually get dull and not shave as close as a new blade.

I just get the bulk packs at costco. As I don't have to shave every day (every other for me) the blades last a long time.

Braun Activator 8595.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it's not wet/dry. I've been so used to my Panasonic es7015 wet/dry that I stepped into the shower and almost ruined the Braun Activator. Other than that, the Activator 8595 is the best electric shaver I've ever used.

Panasonic es7015 (wet/dry)
served me well. I keep it now in my car glove box in case I need a shave enroute.

I used to use a Braun Flex Integral but I didn't like how the foil didn't seal well around the head and clippings would fall out. I had both the black base model and upgraded silver w/led but both performed the same (shaved decent but made a mess).

I use Gillete Mach3 & Sensor razors when I need the closest shave. But, I'm only able to use them once and then have to throw them away. I nearly always end up with cuts or pulled hair when using them a second or third time.

*Consumer Report: I didn't see a current electric shaver review that referenced any of today's current shavers.

**Gillette M3Power vs Gillette Mach3 Turbo: (Jan '05)CR tested with 18 men, both razors provided close shaves, no discernable performance/result difference between the two reported. $7 variance in price.

Electric isn't as close as razor - I started with straight blade, went to electric and now i'm back to straight blade unless i'm out of time

Yawp. I'm on blade #2 of a 4-pack I bought in August '04 :)

I do, however, use an electric razor while in the woods so that might have added to these blades' longetivity

i use the old-school double-edged blades. i find they work really well. replacement blades are relatively cheap since there's no marketing cost associated to them, and they give me a really close shave (and my beard is really rough).
