You've never used one then. I switched to a Philips Sonicare last year and would never go back. My dentist was amazed at how much better my teeth were after using it for 3 months. Keeps tartar off your teeth and even whitens them a few shades. Well worth the $80!!!

I have a real nice one from oral-B.

I have NEVER got my teeth as clean with a regular brush as this thing. I can't expound on how well and thorough it cleans my teeth

I've been using an electric one for over 4 years now. Last week I went to the dentist and gor a free regular toothbrush...now I'm hooked on the regular toothbrush...I guess I missed the hand action. But, I had almost no plaque and stuff on my visits to the dentist, so maybe the electric one is better????

I've never used one of those expensive electric ones. I always thought it was a sham and was just for lazy people or people who liked to waste money. Does it really clean better and make your mouth feel cleaner? More specifically, can it clean spicy chili off your teeth, tongue, and gums really well?

Should add a second poll for Floss... No FLoss, Old fashioned cram your fingers in your mouth, disposable plastic things, fancy Reach flossers...

still stuck with an obsolete brush, gonna try to upgrade to electric depending on how dentist appointment next week goes 😛

$80 :Q

You realize your teeth just get dirty again in a few hours, right?

I've never had a nice electric toothbrush. I had a $7 Oral B battery-powered one or something for a while and it worked okay but I didn't really notice any difference between that and a regular toothbrush. That's what I have now.

The principles of brushing are the same; angle towards your gums, use fingertip pressure, and move in small circles. A manual and electirc can do the same job. Electrics are more fun to use and can do a better job for some people. It is easier to do the same job with an electric, it's not as technique sensitive. Sonicare's are the best OTC.

When I get into my new office I will be able to resell Sonicare's for about $30 (my cost). I will offer them to everyone here if they are interested. It may take a couple of months before I am in a position to do this. If you are interesed PM me. BTW this is a nonprofit deal so don't ban me. I would only ask for the price of shipping over the top of the cost of the Sonicare.

You realize a filling costs $250 right?

if you brush correctly, you don't get cavities even with a manual brush.

Also, dental care is a LOT cheaper in other countries 😀

REALLY???? OMG! I'll buy a few of them off of you- let us know when you have them available. I wish there were a way people could try out a Sonicare to see what I'm talking about. Out of the box, they start out with a weak vibration, then over 12 days it increases to full speed so it doesn't rip your gums apart. The built in timer turns off automatically after two minutes. It feels like you just got a professional cleaning from the dentist everytime I brush.

Some tips for first time users:

You have to use gel based toothpastes with it though because regular pastes harm the brush for some reason.

Also put it in your mouth BEFORE turning it on, otherwise the thing is so powerful it'll fling your toothpaste all over the place 🙂

The charge lasts two weeks, but I find the brush weakens after 6-7 days. I just keep it charged fully all the time.

hmm I didnt realise gell based ones are better. why is that?

oh and a good way to clean it is to stick it under the faucet and turn it on. 🙂

and hey if you dont want it to shake your teeth out im sure you can find *other* purposes for it 😉 😛

i have a cheap electric that i love. it does such a good job. I have arthritis and found these are easyer to use.

jstoney: hey if you can sale them cheap i will take 2!
