It is sad that all you young people missed the greatest time for real music. The 60s and 70s were the pinnacle period for standard rock type music. The 80s were great too but that is a total different type of musica altogather. ELO is one of the top rock bands ever.

I like the song Telephone Line *** Hands in man card temporarly***

Hello--how are you
Have you been alright, through all those lonely nights,
Thats what Id say, Id tell you everything,
If youd pick up that telephone.

Hey--how you feelin
Are you still the same
Dont you realize the things we did were all for real not a dream,
I just cant believe
Theyve all faded out of view.

I look into the sky
(the love you need aint gonna see you through.)
And I wonder why
(the little things are finally coming true.)

Chorus
Telephone line, give me some time, Im living in twilight
Telephone line, give me some time, Im living in twilight

O.k. so no--ones answering,
Well cant you just let it ring a little longer
Ill just sit tight, through the shadows of the night
Let it ring for evermore.

Chorus -- repeat

And I dont remember much of my childhood infact the only real memory I have was owning the ELO 45 singe back when I was 5 in 1976. I turned to stone I used to play that song over and over and over and never could get enough of it.

The city streets are empty now THE LIGHTS DON'T SHINE NO MORE
and so the songs are way down low TURNING TURNING TURNING
A sound that flows into my mind THE ECHOES OF THE DAYLIGHT
of everything that is alive IN MY BLUE WORLD

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.

The dying embers of the night A FIRE THAT SLOWLY FADES TILL DAWN
still glow upon the wall so bright TURNING TURNING TURNING
The tired streets that hide away FROM HERE TO EVERYWHERE THEY GO
roll past my door into the day IN MY BLUE WORLD

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.
Turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.

Yes, I'm turnin' to stone 'cos you ain't comin' home.
Why you ain't comin' home if I'm turnin' to stone?
You've been gone for so long and I can't carry on,
yes, I'm turnin', I'm turnin', I'm turnin' to stone.

The dancing shadows on the wall THE TWO-STEP IN THE HALL
are all I see since you've been gone TURNING TURNING TURNING
Through all I sit here and I wait I TURN TO STONE I TURN TO STONE
You will return again some day TO MY BLUE WORLD

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.
Turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.
Turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.

i remember a couple of years ago, VW has a commercial for their new beetle convertible (which is one of the best commercial i've ever seen), and i heard "mr blue sky" and i absolutely love that song. i found their song but i didn't really bother to find and buy their cd.

until this week i got "out of the blue", and wow do i really love their songs.

anyone ELO fans out there? which cd's would you recommend?

I don't get that commercial. So it shows the repetition of the daily grind. What's the point?
