I have a 2002 Yukon SLT. WIth the towing package. I want to think about electric crakes, I have a hraness i the jack storage, appears to be fore electric brakes. I already have the 7 way coming out next to the hitch, so what do I need to do? What components do i need?

i believe all you need is the little electric brake box that goes in your leg area (or around there) and controls the power of the brakes.

I think the yukon is pre wired, so I wouldnt need it, thats what I want to know. I think the existing computer takes care of it

no you need the electric brake box.

my dads avalanche was pre wired, but you still need the box to control the brakes.

Yep, you need a brake controller, such as this one. I have a 2001 suburban, and i'm pretty sure it was pre-wired. Good luck

You want to be able to control the trailer brakes independently from the towing vehicle brakes. When making a quick stop or going down a long grade you want to apply braking pressure to the trailer before the car/truck or else you will jacknife.
