I always have a thin sheet, then my electric blanket and then a moderate weight duvet on top to hold the heat in. Never thought about putting it underneath, but I dont know how it would feel sleeping on them coils....

I only keep the electric blanket on until my bed warms up anyway, then i turn it off.. Although now that I am married I may not even need it this year.... My wifey is like a heater! Annoying in the summer but I am guessing very handy for the winter!

A duvet? I hope you're a woman. Everything on my bed is called a blanket. I'd never even heard the term duvet until I watched Fight Club.

*pounds chest* look at me, me no know what duvet is, me have blanket, me like fight club *pops beer open, chugs, crushes on head*

Oh look, another duvet owning shemale.

If you have the proper bedding, you will be warm, beyond the initial chill, when you first hit the cold sheets. burrrrrrrr. ;)

Agreed. I also think there would be more risk of a short circuit if you're putting hundreds of pounds on top of an electric blanket.

That said, I don't own an electric blanket since I live in SoCal where the coldest it gets is in the low 40s overnight. In fact, I have yet to use the heat in our house this fall. :p

I slept on top of one for ages - never occurred to me it could be used any other way. Everyone else in my house did the same.
