My screen savers are off... my power savers for the monitor are off.. and when I shut down for the night (go to sleep) I just shut off the monitor.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong (like I really needed to say that :p :) ), but I think the way to take the most load off of the CPU so more CPU CYCLES can go to crunching the CLIENT you should ENABLE your SCREEN SAVER. Set it to BLANK SCREEN. If you just turn off the monitor the CPU continues to send the Background which waste CPU cycles. Then set the POWER to a time frame close to the time you have set the screen-saver start up.
I really want to set it that way... with Windows ME, I don't see "Blank Screen" as an option. If that would allow me to get more out of my CPU, that would be great.. I wanna milk the CPU for everything I can... :)
I'm running Windows ME and I can run "Blank Screen" maybe I can upload the .scr file want me to?

Thanks.. I had a PM with Smokeball and figured out what was set wrong with my Screensavers. I have that option now.

I'm not too worried about the electricity thing from this thread, but now with the "Blank Screen", I'm interested to see if it adds any to the times for the WUs.... I'll let you all know what I find out....

Thanks Smoke......

:)

Well, over here, 250 W = 0,25 kW
0,25 kW
2,5 hW
2500 dW ;)

I think lobadobadingdong needs some refresher on the use of SI prefixes
Factor Name Symbol
10^24 yotta Y
10^21 zetta Z
10^18 exa E
10^15 peta P
10^12 tera T
10^9 giga G
10^6 mega M
10^3 kilo k
10^2 hecto h
10^1 deka da
Factor Name Symbol
10^-1 deci d
10^-2 centi c
10^-3 milli m
10^-6 micro µ
10^-9 nano n
10^-12 pico p
10^-15 femto f
10^-18 atto a
10^-21 zepto z
10^-24 yocto y

Can't say I have ever had the chance to use zepto and yocto when speaking of small numbers...but maybe someday ;)

Now we just need some computers to start talking about Pbytes instead of TBytes

Hey, I wouldn't mind Ebytes or Zbytes; now, what I'd use it for, that's a good question. Maybe uncompressed digital copies of every DVD video and every song ever created on the planet? ;)

Anyway, thanks for the refresher in those unit prefixes. I'd fogotten lots of them, and then the extreme ones were definitely ones that I'd never heard of before. :Q

LOL, I was thinking in octal sets again.
there is just too many types of numbering systems.

That's how I've always had my HDD settings ,2nd HDD powers down & 1st HDD drive keeps going for as long as SETI is running:).
Save some wear too on your 2nd & 3rd HDDs ;)
