Electric Air dust blower worth?

Cappuccino

  • With blow pipe and dust bag included
  • Power: 0~700W
  • No Load Speed 0-16000min(rpm)
  • Wind Volume 2.8/min
  • Wind Pressure 5.5k
Specs above.

I have never used electric dust blower before and I have no idea what specs is good for blowing out PC dust etc. As you can see 700W is good or bad? And what does no load speed mean? Do I need more power? The thing cost £30 on eBay. Appreciate the help 🙂

I have a Datavac, think I paid $80 for it. On the expensive side. It's 540 Watt and 70 CFM. It moves some air, I've actually been able to blow leaves off my porch with it. It does get a little warm if you use it for more than a few minutes at a time, but a few 10-20 second bursts clears my computer (all my panels except back and bottom come off).

lol thoughts on this? worth getting?

I always just use a can of compressed air ($5), and it lasts me well over a year. My case has dust filters, and I keep positive pressure in my case (more intakes than exhaust fans), so I hardly get any dust in my case at all.

I guess you could give that blower a try, but when it comes to most things, I live by the acronym K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid). 😉

Because I have a interest with cars, I have now realized that I could get a limitless supply of compressed air with even a measly pancake compressor from Harbor Freight. Of course, I don't own one, but just a thought. The bigger the compressor, the more limited your movement.

Leaf blowers might be too crude, but it is another idea.

Sucking up dust for disposal is good. Blowing dust to settle elsewhere is less good. 🙂

For that price I'd try it out and see. It's probably cheap motor/bearings but for the little use it will get it will probably be fine.

What I actually like to do myself is use an air compressor and vacuum. Air compressor will force the dust loose and vacuum will suck it up. Shop vac works great, just have the nozzle near the PC. The bigger the compressor the more spray time you get before refills. A standard portable one should be half decent. I have a 1.5 gal one and that's probably as small as they come, I'd get a bit bigger than that. I kinda want one of those big standup shop ones and have air lines throughout the house, just because it would be cool. 😛 But I really have no purpose for such a big one.
