I have thought that large cities should be changed to districts, and be counted separately from the rest of the state.

I wish Hawaii were more of a swing state...we would get some serious attention every four years during presidential election time. could you imagine a presidential election coming down to Hawaii...the last state to vote (time wise), and all of 4 electoral votes the deciding factor!

But instead our Hawaii is a democrat bastion...will never be a swing state and will never get much attention from Presidential candidates. Most we got recently was a visit from VP Cheney during the 2004 election (of course unless you were "born here" and your dying grandmother still lived here and passed away during the election...looking at you Mr. Obama...).

By the way, I live a couple blocks away from Obama's grandmothers house...huge Obama shrine in the open air lobby of the building...

I'm sure everyone living in a swing state that has to listen to presidential candidates go back and forth over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again wish that the campaigning would just go away.

Everyone except the people that profit from all the electioneering, of course, which is ultimately why the electoral college continues to exist.

It most certainly isn't... last I checked it was a republic. :p

A Republic is a representative democracy. We have democratic values, and it is possible for something to be undemocratic in a Republic. For example, if you prevent blacks from voting, does it make sense to say "it's OK, we aren't a democracy". No, you buffoon.
