A fully restored Shelby GT500 was just sold at auction by Barret-Jackson (they show re-runs of it on Speed Channel just about every day). I believe it sold for close to 200k. The neat thing about it is that it didn't have the original engine. Instead, it had a 'replacement' engine that was installed by the factory because the original was defective upon delivery. This engine (even though it is not 'numbers matching') was signed by Carroll Shelby himself stating that the engine is the 'correct and true' engine for that specific car. The auctioneers said that Shelby's signature may have added slightly to the final price but the fact that it was a 'proven' correct car is what really made the price skyrocket.

That is a definite must-see for any true muscle/classic car enthusiast!
