Was dc'ing like crazy yesterday. Four times in a dungeon, and every time you reload, you are free-falling in the void (beneath the map), which you have to kill yourself to get out of, and then it's a crapshoot whether the next log will be still in the void or in the dungeon/instance.

Hope they get that straightened out soon... customer service seems to be blaming it on everyone's ISP (canned response).

As for stats which is discussed on the last page; I'm going full stamina and still run out, and it seems to recharge far slower than magicka, even though I have no points in magicka or regen on equipment. Since you can respec, I'm not worried about making a final decision now.

The game is trying to cater to too many player types I think. Elitists and "harcore" gamers that like having certain things be very tough to accomplish in such that less than 1% of the player base will ever do it, want games that have much of the content conform to that style of design. The rest of the the normal people out there don't care for such crap. So the designers I think are doing a few things for those elitist hardcore crowd set of players which are those few annoying quests.

They aren't bugged, they are designed to be annoying as fuck.

The way they intentionally screwed with those quests is not even what I'd call hardcore. I was there for EQ in '99 and I know what hardcore was like :) Naked corpse runs, losing xp, de-leveling, sense heading, no in-game maps, long boat rides. I've softened over the years especially after playing RIFT but this kind of quest intentionally blocking nonsense at such a low level is just stupid on their part in this day and age of MMOs.

But even with that complaint that I'm still having a blast. Just wandering around is amazing especially in Stonefalls with the lava flows and lightening and total environment immersion. And omg reading up on all the builds is so fun just like it was in RIFT.

Stamina is a hard resource to maintain especially if you dodge/block, thats why Stamina focused builds are not too popular as it's too hard to maintain.

Also, unless you have managed to load up your gear on Stamina regen, your regen rate for stamina is pretty much the same as your magicka so having a larger pool means taking longer to run out, but also longer to recharge.

Regarding the Templar being crazy powerful at low lvl that someone mentioned, as I said before, low lvl Templar is great due to burst damage, but higher lvl they have the worst resource management for Magicka and so are currently actually in a rather bad place end game, so I would not expect much more nerfs coming to Templar as they were hit hard during beta.

Maintenance on the servers always takes this long? The game's been down for maintenance for the last 5 hours and still counting.

During launch period MMOs often end up with a lot of downtime for 'maintenance, hotfixes etc.', some long, some short, most not exactly planned but desperately needed.

Usually once a game is properly up and running you get one day a week where scheduled maintenance will occur and usually no more than 3 hours and in the middle of the night where almost no one is on.

I'll tell you what though, there are some weird whackos in my guild that are actually LIKING those screwed up quests. They like that it is artificially "hard" to do them because everyone has to wait some stupid amount of time to click on some stupid artificially restricted resource to complete a quest. I shit you not. Luckily it is on a small number of quests that are designed that way. Just to appease the idiots.

Wow server is still down? Went down 10pm PST last night so 9 hours and counting. Thought I'd sneak in 30 minutes of gameplay before work but no. :(

I know #firstworldproblems eh? :)

Still kind of shocked. Server uptime was so good before this. I expected patches with 2-3 hour downtimes in there somewhere but ouch 9 hours.

I'm finding it hard to believe it is still down. There are some patch notes on the official site, but pretty minor things overall compared to the dc problems (although bugged quest fixes were mentioned).

Funny thing is, for the last hour or so, before they took the servers down, I didn't dc once (which is highly unusual to play for a hour without one).

The connectivity progressively got worse, especially once the three day early access began. More players, the more the servers were hammered. Dreading regular release on 1/4.

Patch notes were part of a planned maintenance they were going to do later which they tacked on after having to bring the server down due to some issues.
As a rare treat, as a UK player I actually get the better end of the deal as the EU server did not have the same issues the NA one had, I am sure we'll get something some other time though :(

Regarding the quests that most hate and some actually like, you will probably find it is a case of nostalgia from the old days, but also, and I know morst hate it, but itsalmost kind of refreshing, MMOs nowadays are so 'gimmegimmegimme, nownownow!' that suddenly having to actually stop, wait and hang around is quite a change of pace. Not that I am saying its a great thing, but given that there are not many of these quests I myself actually kinda like them...course that may also be nostalgia from my EQ1 days - and I know if the game was full of them I would quickly hate it.

Yeah, I had no disconnects or client crashes until I played last night (I started on Sunday), and I experienced at least 1 crash, got kicked back to the desktop once, and had at least 2 other disconnects I remember.

Heh ouch. That would be exploitable big time.

I may end up playing this DK as my full time now. A lot of fun! Anybody planning to level 10-50 in PVP? Im debating it with my healing templar.

That is a pretty insane 'bug'... reminds me of that huge clusterf*ck 'Caturday' in Neverwinter- which incidentally made most people I know quit. I'm curious to see how this will be handled, good thing it happened before official launch but isn't this a big f*ck you to those of us who paid to play early? Kind of like a final beta on their part to iron out things like this- except we paid for it.

Wow. That is messed up. Don't think I've ever heard about a game where a bug logged you into someone else's account.

I'm wondering if it's related to gold spammers and hackers. The end of the first night (around 4AM), chat was hacked for me. A spammer would /zone say their spiel, and the message was just long enough that the name wasn't visible. Somehow, scrolling in chat was disabled after this; not allowing me to see the name to ignore it.

I don't like to call 'hacker' when something looks fishy, because it could be any number of things, but I'm also a bit paranoid with any account.

It's because the server system uses shards for the megaserver vs traditional standalone servers. It's actually not a very uncommon database error at all.

I want to say WoW had an issue like this after a major patch. And Ultima Online had a server boundary issue. If you traded across a known map boundary and killed the client. The server would put whatever was being traded into both backpacks. People abused that to gain millions in gold.

Just FYI, I had the same issue but if I expanded the chat box vertically I could see the whole spammer's message and right click ignore his name.

Not sure if your issue was more complicated than mine, but anyways that's how I fixed it for myself.

Doesn't seem to work on all of them but i've noticed less spam today.

/guilds and mail are disabled atm

So what attributes should a dragonknight be using? At the moment I''m level 8 and have put 4 in health, 3 in magicka and only 1 in stamina. I'm doing some magicka because I use a lot of magical attacks rather than the stamina based ones.

Although it seems stamina increases weapon attack damage so perhaps that's a bad idea?

Well for the first time I started noticing stuff too big to fit in the max size I can make my window - new trick is press escape - settings - social - font size and make it tiny and you can mute them.

Tank'ed all three of the 20-23 dungeons tonight, running about 5 all told.

First group roflstomped everything; others had multiple wipes.

Based this (at current lvl) build to tank PVE, which doesn't make me a dps role, and found out if the others can't spam dmg, the group is in trouble. Good practice tanking nonetheless.

I'm already having trouble on my Templar at level 9. I run out of stam and magic really quickly and barely have any self healing due to that. I haven't played an MMO since Everquest where you can so easily die by a single add at low levels. There were several solo quests that I died numerous times on trying to kill a named quest character and ended up having to let the NPCs take it down about half way before joining in. It sucks sitting there oom and oos knowing exactly what skills you want to do but instead have to watch your character die a slow death without any way out. They really need to ease up on the stam and magic requirements on skills. I feel like my character is made out of paper.

I crafted gear for my level and have a green weapon, so its not bad gear. I also dodge out of red areas and block "sparkly" attacks, so its not something easy like that.
