I cannot agree with this outlook more. They took what was already proven to not work well, smashed some elder scrolls into it and are calling it good enough. It's a shame, too.

Didn't follow the AMA, what did they plan on doing(screwing) with RvR?

Ba Bosmer (who I named "Higgs Bosmer"... hehe)
I am totally stealing that name :)

The summary of the PVP from the AMA
PvP

•PvP in Cyrodill is modeled similar to old DAOC style PvP

•No plans for dueling

•Future PvP content (i.e. arenas, sport style pvp, more keeps to Cyrodill or different campaigns) will be dependent on player feedback

•All PvP Campaigns will have the same ruleset

•Keeps are currently tuned to Level 50/Veteran Rank 1 but as players increase in power, Keeps will be increased in difficulty

•You can level up in PvP and there are also two skill lines focused on PvP.

•If you are on top of your alliance’s leaderboard when the 6 keeps around Imperial City are captured by your alliance, you will become emperor. To lose Emperorship, all 6 keeps have to be captured by the opposing alliance.

•Working on a population imbalance scoring addition so that when you have a Campaign with either a lopsided score or lopsided population, the two Alliances on the lower end will get more points for capturing keeps, and more alliance points per kill.

•Mercenaries will be only defending specific locations when you deploy them

•There are discussions about adding more PVP Quests in Cyrodiil or simply making the Kill 20 players quest a bit more available around the Keeps instead of back at the home portal Keeps

•There is high level armor which can be purchased and the Emperor gets their own costume as well.

•A Nightblade support build is one that we have read a good deal of concerns about, so I’d expect some changes on the horizon.

•Can’t reveal plans for Imperial city atm, it is not accessible at this time.

•The only lock on Campaigns are based on your Characters to ensure you don’t have a
Dominion, Covenant and Pact character all in the same Campaign. For launch we are going to relax the 24 hour lockout for switching campaigns to a smaller window and the cost, but we are aware of possible guild flooding and will be looking into those issues as they arise.

•As for guilds/friends account sharing 24/7 to permlock Emperor – it is possible but that player need to be able to acquire alliance points to stay on top of the leaderboard and their alliance need to maintain the keeps.

•The simple rules are that if the gate is closed and the Elder scroll is in the temple, you’ll be dead going through keep windows as an enemy Alliance. If the gate is open or if the scroll is "in the wild", that isn’t the case anymore.

Are there any plans for an AT guild? I will be in need of one when the game early start comes around.

Been watching some videos to see if I might like it... does it really have a Halo health regen mechanic? Looks like when people get damaged they just run 20 feet away and heal to full health in seconds.

No trinity-type gameplay (healer/tank/dps), but more like Guild Wars where everyone takes care of their own health?

You can start your patching right now if you have the beta installed. I just installed a 5gig patch tonight. Might want to start patching now so you don't have to when servers are being flooded.

This. Everything I've seen of ESO points to it being Guild Wars 2 set in the Elder Scrolls universe.

No. From my experience during the Beta and watching some of the dungeon videos, this trinity is in full play. The difference is that each class has many different ways they can be built because outside of the core skills of a class there are tons of other skills that you get from guilds/quests that augment your character.

This.

I think the point is that technically, anyone can be a healer (with resto staff), but not that everyone takes care of their own health; there should still be a healer in the group. I plan on going Dragon Knight with resto staff.

Im assuming they wont let us install the client until Sunday then? I tried downloading it last night. It seemed to install the actual launch client. But it just sat there with "loading" all night and nothing downloaded. Be nice if they would let us re-download the game client. Because I gurantee if we all try to get it Sunday. A debacle will happen.

The beta client will be updated to release. It can be downloaded and installed now.

Ahh ok, ill look for it on the website then. Thx.

As per the faq that they just posted
Q: I pre-ordered/pre-purchased the game, and don’t have a beta client. When can I start downloading the game client?

A: Once you complete the pre-purchase from the ESO online store or enter a 3 / 5 day Early Access pre-order code via your account page, simply log in to your account at https://account.elderscrollsonline.com from Thursday 27th March onwards and follow the prompts to begin downloading the game client. We encourage you to download and patch the client early.

Well, think I'm going to bite and pre-order. Even if it sucks, I probably have over 1,000+ hours in all ES games (Daggerfall+), so I can write it off.

Can't view that early launch FAQ though... the site drops me back to the age verification every time I try to view it.

Anyone know of a good site with all the class/faction/race/etc skills laid out, so I can get an idea of what my first character will be? The wiki ones are cluttered messes that I'd have to visit each page individually to see racial skills for example, instead of one big table of values, and I've been redirected to pay to play game sites. Doesn't seem to be anything on the actual ESO site.

Make sure to use the GMG or Gamefly as they have 20% off coupons right now which puts the Imperial at same price as regular.

As far as class combos it's still to early as the game hasn't even come out. Once you play you will get a good idea of what works and what doesn't. I tried all the classes in the beta and ended up settling on a Sorcerer as my class. For the most part any class can be spec'd for anything as I had my Sorc tanking with a sword and shield and then DPS'ing with a greatsword or dual wield.

Yea, it came out to $64 for the Imperial edition with that code.

I've watched a bunch of videos, and understand what you are talking about as far as a 'build' would go, but some races are obviously better for some classes. I'm assuming the character creation lets you see all the skills for race/class/faction?

Some races are better for certain things early on but once you progress you can hit any soft cap via items and Mundus stone.

As of right now you can for example drop every single point in health when you level up and still have magicka or stamina capped via items later on. Mundus stones allow you to boost yourself with kind of the same attributes as a racial skill not available to your specific race. Only one Mundus can be active at a time but you get the idea.
