So I'm looking to start buying stuff for my next system (my Fragbox will be starting to show it's age next year, methinks). I'm stuck on the video card, however. Up until now I've used nVidia cards, with my current rig having a 6800GT. But considering prices, card sizes and power requirements (I love small form factor), I'm looking at ATi's stuff.

So, those of you buying ATi...what're you buying to run games coming out this holiday season and through next year? I'm looking at the x850pro and x800xl...but I dunno.

Don't buy older gen ATI cards, no sm3.0, I hope someone can confirm this but doesn't OBlivion use it?

OBlivion uses all high end technology : HDR, 3.0 shaders and more

ATI X1000 series have a better Shader 3.0 implementation but i waiting to see its dual core driver they were talking about. Anyways I think Oblivion uses 2 cores i think. So Dual core CPU should really take adventage. If don't have the money to buy a high end card then i recommend X800GTO Sapphire because you can mod it very to X850XTPE and yes ihave one and its modded andits on my lan comp :) . But if you have the cash then i recommend waiting 2months and X1800XT should be arround $450 and hell worth it.

Why would you buy an x850pro or x800xl when you already have a 6800GT?

I don't do consoles though.

I just...don't like them, and ontop of that the controllers confuse the crap out of me.

Like if this is a controler: (xoo) This is me: :Q:confused::shocked:

xbox has a cool controller i must say. its the only controller i could play FPS on without using auto aim. Anyways I have owned over 10 console by now : nes , snes, gb , gbc , gba , psp , xbox , ps1 , ps2 , gc , sega master drive , gen , c64 , atria 3200 , initellivision and more ;( . i am a pc + consoler gamer and i am kind of use to anykind type of controller. I have read a hands on preview on Obliveon at gamespot website and they say Elder Scrolls Obliveon runs really smoot and control shema is very easy to get use too. anyways most of the best RPG were console exclusive to being with like crono trigger / FF7 / vagrant story and many more.

No, the PC is where the ES games are. It is all about the mods!
