That's right. El Mono Jojoy is dead. This is a significant step forward in the attempts to bring peace to the world.

A necessary but insufficient step toward peace. Until the government gets serious about disbanding and prosecuting the right wing paramilitaries the cycle will continue.

I'm sure Hugo Chavez is livid. My heard bleeds for him. /sarcasm.

Columbia has come a long way in recent years in terms of restoring the rule of law. The fall of FARC would be a major step in the right direction. Violent revolution rarely helps the common man in the long run, socialist or not.

No it isn't. Death is the cessation of action, not an action itself. It has no direction.
While the cessation of negative actions can clear the board for positive actions, it doesn't initiate nor sustain them.

For true change it helps immensely to have a positive focus.
If everyone would embrace Miku, we would have that focus.

Colombia has nothing to rejoice about. They keep targeting these groups when in reality the groups are closer to them than they think. This is only a minor inconvenience for any guerrilla group.

The guerrilla's influence and strength is at an all-time low thanks to former president Uribe's actions against their top leaders. The death of Mono Jojoy is a very good start for the new president, and the strength of the guerrilla will continue to diminish, although it will take time. We don't expect miracles, especially when taking into account the fact that it's been almost 50 years of civil war in Colombia.
