El cheapo video cards

I have two choices:

GeForce FX 5200 or ATI Radeon 9250 or 9550LE.

People basicly use simulators, GTA 4, Warcraft 3, FIFA, and some Quake 3.

Suggestions appreciated.

I'd say the 9550 is the best out of the three, just make sure it's a 128-bit version, not 64-bit.

I thought the "le" designation went to cards with 64 bit memory and I think 4 pixel pipes. Correct me if i'm wrong.

if you wanna spend $100 you could get a geforce 6200, as it's close to a 9600pro, BUT if you want to go through the trouble of OCing each of the cards, you can get a good performance boost over a 9600pro (even if you OC the 9600) plus there is a chance you can unlock the pipelines in it to make it a 6600. get the 128 bit version though.

if you don't want to go through the trouble, even just simple OCing, the 6200 is still a good choice and supports SM3.0, which wont do anything in those games, but it's nice to have...so yeah that's an option...

the 5xxx series are bad....from what i have heard...stay away...

I have ~ 60bucks per machine to invest on video cards.

I have 11 computers as of now, and yes, the 9550 is the 64 bit version.

i'd say a 9550 would still be the best bet in that price range. Geforce FX cards suck ass, too, so I'd stay away from them.

hand the crack over

Maybe you can try to make a deal with whichever store you're buying from, and try to get a good price on a slightly better card like the ones people are suggesting here. Easier if you're buying for more computers though.

There's always the trusty Ti4200 if you're willing to track them down and buy used.

If you want to hunt down 11 cards, going used could be a good option for you. Without AA and AF turned on, the GF4 series can really hold their own.

to the OP, my favorite low end cards are:
6200s for PCIE (~$50 or so)
9600 pro for AGP (hard to find the 128bit 6200 for as cheap as these come ~$100 or less)
FX5700LE for PCI (~$100 or something at newegg.. but worth it if you are stuck with PCI)

6200 getting the edge of course, due to being more advanced. but the 9550 is pretty close to a 9600 pro.

i dont think you can do better for $60 and for new cards.

GF4 is a nice, stable card that is no slouch, but I'd rather have a 9600pro.

i dont care what anyone else or the graphics charts say: i've tested GF4 4200s and 9600 Pros and the 9600 Pro results in a smoother gaming experience.
Thats first hand experience you do not have to listen too.
But I'm right.

And I am assuming this 9550 is 128bit, so shouldnt be much less than a 9600p.

Not really. The 128Bit version costs a tad more, so I'm rather looking at the 64bit version. The deal of 63 bucks seems to fit in just about fine.

Thank you all for your input.
