Ekkk - just bought my first remanufactured item from Newegg!!

You should be just fine. Refurbed for newegg usually means that it is basically an open box return with accessories may or not be in the box.

You should be fine except for possibly not getting the metal I/O shield for you case, hopefully you'll either get it or have l33t metal-modding skillz.

BTW a search using either "newegg" or "refurb" would have told you the risks before you placed the order. Search is your pal!

(or NTSC for those in region 1)

Bwhaahha - subtle humor 😀 Anyway, would an I/O shied be ABSOLUTLY necessary? I have the I/O shield from my current Mobo, but I haven't used it. My case is a gateway case - I got it when I worked for Gateway. I bought the retail version of the motherboard they use, so all of the ports lined up perfectly in the rear. I might have to take my hack saw too it so I can make room for the Firewire connector. Hrmmm.....

🙂
If you don't get a shield, ask in cases & cooling --- I seem to recall someone saying aluminum foil would work, but had no reason to save the post.
