Ejected from a plane for no valid reason !

  1. OK, for the lawyers in the crowd, I was kicked off and aiplane (first class no less) last saturday night in Orlando. I told the stewardess that I have just been discharged from ER, where I had been given morphine for the pain, but I get on the airplane by wheelchair since I have no balance and can not go down the ramp myself. later I suggested I would want a beer when the time came. 5 minutes later I was virtually manhandled off the plane, deaf, no way to get home to oregon, no money, no hotel, and I can't use a phone of any kind as I am almost deaf. Worth a lot to sue them ? (edited)

    my son got off the plane to help me and had to leave my 4 yr old granddaughter, 8 you old grandson and 15 year old with their mom.

Wow that's messed up. I would bring that to the news and a lawyer you probably have a case. Did they even give a valid reason? Intoxication or something? Not that it would be a valid reason in your case considering it's medical.
 
They would not give me a reason. But from the above if one did not listen to me, I came on in a wheelchair since I have no balance. The morphine was given to me in ER, but again, they may not have been listening and thought they had a duggie in a first class seat, and then I was suggesting a beer later.

I'd definitely discuss it with a lawyer.

I agree with this wholeheartedly and wish you the best going forward.

That said, I can see why the Alaska crew might have considered you to be a safety risk. Being under the influence of morphine (and deaf?) with some serious medical issues that just had you in the ER has to raise questions about your ability to understand and follow crew instructions. There might also have been questions about whether being on the flight would have worsened your health problems.

IMHO it might have been a bit unrealistic for you to attempt to fly across the country right after being discharged from an ER.

Just offering a different perspective.

Or at least share some much info with the flight crew, though I'm sure the morphine had something to do with that.

Seems like the airline did you a favor. The last thing you'd want is to be 30,000 feet in the air, on a long cross-country flight, needing to go to the ER.

Their #1 duty is to be sure the flight arrives at the final destination safely. If the airline determines that you being on the flight is a risk to that duty, then they can and will boot you off. I feel that you will get no where with a lawsuit. Sounds like the airline was following the laws and following their policies.

except read my post. I CAME from ER, and was later to expect to return there but go in the meantime as my "go to fly" note from my doctor said.

Yes, you said you came from the ER. But you also posted that you are going back to the ER. Needing to go back to the ER for a bloody stool is not a safe condition, especially to airline staff who have no medical training on your condition.

Plus, this is the first time you are mentioning either a note or a doctor's permission. How are we to "read your post" that doesn't include information that you didn't type yet?

The bloody stool cam today for the first time. this all happened (the ejection) saturday
 
Sounds like your medical issues was valid enough reason for the airline to avoid the liability of something happening while in the air.

One might think the later-mentioned doctor's note might clear them of that, but I also still think "I came from the ER, they filled me up with morphine, that's why I don't have balance, and also I might want a beer later" could raise suspicions. Add in potential communication issues from being hard of hearing, and who knows?

OK< first, after the story that Igor shared, it now answers why I was ejected and why the "clear to fly" was required. As for the bloody stoll, I have more tests scheduled now and the list of data not included grows by the hour. I am too busy now going to the doctor, ER and more tests to answer more questions, sorry.

Hope test come back well for you. Sorry you had to go through the problems with the airline. Update please. Hoping it is not cancer.
