Either the Democrats are amazingly stupid or the Republicans amazingly shrewd.

I got to hand it to the Republicans. By demonizing Hilary the Dems have turned to the only candidate who could lose in 2008. An inexperienced, northern, liberal, black man.
Good God! He is a Karl Rove wet dream to campaign against!
What Dems are ignoring is just because it has become socially unacceptable to put down blacks, their is still a HUGE racist component to the American electorate. Look at how easy it was to defeat Harold Ford in the last election (a white woman saying call me, Harold).
Now if Obama had years of experience and accomplishment, he might have a chance.
But to pick an unknown with no experience? And a black man? And a northern liberal?

While much can still happen and the Republican candidate could have a meltdown, this is clearly a case of the Democrats snatching defeat from jaws of victory.

Let me guess, Clinton, with her 35 years of experience, is the better candidate, right?

Obama is the only candidate on the D side of the aisle that can garner any kind of support from the right.

He's obviously forgotten the bitterness that followed Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns. People are just tired of the divisiveness. They want good governance and good leadership, not another "acceptable" candidate like Bush.

Most conservatives I know like Obama much better than Billary, even a few would consider voting for him. You can't say the same for Billary nor Edwards. I'm sorry you're a partisan stuck in 1960 mentality techs, the rest of the world has passed you by.

The majority of people who would vote for Obama (Liberals and Independents) do not have a problem with race. You don't have to win them over to a black candidate as the black part is not an issue to them.

techs is an idiot. I thought this was common knowledge here by now.

Remember, this is the same guy who thought it was statistically impossible that members of the military were posting in this forum.

While I had figured on not posting here I just had to for this post.

Obama will lose because when push comes to shove rank and file Democrats will not uphold their party ideals.

is still a HUGE racist component to the American electorate.

and its mostly confined to the Democrat party. Go to the midwest, the amount of bigots there makes the south look like a racial paradise. The reason why you see Southern abuses in the news is because it relies on stereotypes and misdirection.

Still you have to ask, if Democrats put him up as their nominee (I don't think they will) how can they deal with the very same negatives they launched at Quayle? I know how they will do it, they will claim any "white" person a racist for doing and any "black" person an Uncle Tom.

See, while Obama is the worst choice in many cases he is also the best choice. He is of the protected class, no Republican can attack him. He is only fair game for other Democrats.

It is not Republicans that are defeating Hillary, they don't have to demonize her. Many of my Democratic friends hate her guts and wouldn't vbte for her as President even if it meant a Republican got in. Obama is getting off light right now, he is the NEW media's golden child. He is the fresh face versus the establishment.

Hillary is defeating herself right now, Hillary's past is defeating her. The real issue is, in the end will it really matter. I still think she will be the nominee regardless.

Republicans would prefer her as an opponent than Obama, simply on the reason she can't hide behind race.

The vast right wing conspiracy, eh.

The Republicans haven't demonized Hillary. She just has a natural capacity for not being likeable. I already said in here many months ago that she's unlikely to become president because even though she has (or had) a lot of support there are so many people who hate her with a passion. Many of those people would vote just to vote against her, even Dems. Talk about someone who's even more politically polarizing than Bush. Hillary is it, and people are more than tired of all the polarization.

btw, I don't get all this talk about Obama being "black." His heritage is mixed race (white and black) so anyone deeming him "black" is seemingly uninformed.

I might agree with you. Except I don't because there are hardcore republicans here and I've spoken to who actually will consider voting for Obama, and they're not saying it for a joke. They really believe it.

But to pick an unknown with no experience? And a black man? And a northern liberal?

As perknose's signature says, via Chris Rock on Bush He has f***ed up so bad that it's hard for a white man to run for president. I'm glad to see enough people hate this current mess that they are willing to go far away from it.

the republicans spent all summer/fall campaigning nonstop against Hillary.

Obama has problems, but I don't think they've got anything to do with his race. more his complete lack of any foreign policy or executive experience.

No, I am picking the modern day Abraham Lincoln. How do I know. I feel it and I trust my feelings. I don't give a crap what you think, what the party thinks, or what anybody else thinks. I like Obama and have believed he will be President from the day I emailed him before he announced to get in the race for the sake of the nation. Go go Obama!

I've liked Obama ever since I heard him speak the first time. He has a well spoken, determined prose. And, unlike the current fucktard, can speak in polysyllabic words without stammering like porky pig. Forget the color of his skin, he is a leader. Unfortunately, I believe that the populous will only see his skin color and vote on that characteristic (if you can call it that) alone.
I weep for this nation, as I have been for the past 8 years.

Assuming Obama wins the nomination, his chances largely depend on who the Republican candidate turns out to be.

There are a lot of articles out there currently attempting to analyze the implications of the Hillary campaign's pending implosion, and the dynamics motivating so many younger Democrats and independents to strongly support Obama...Hillary's only bastion of strength are the Baby Boomers who supported her husband...subsequent generations are shifting to Obama with an almost Kennedy fascination.

Some would argue that this showing is a rejection of Clintonism, and the Clinton tendency to "appease" everyone by floating to the middle...at one time, it was a dirty word to run as a "liberal"...now that Bush has managed to tarnish the "conservative" brand, perhaps the Democrats can now run a true liberal candidate, and attract independents.

There is also the Gore and Bloomberg factors...I could see Gore throwing in his hat as a Green Party candidate and Bloomberg entering the race as a true independent.

It is apparent that the message of "change" is resonating with voters, and Obama is riding that wave to the Democrat nomination.

Ultimately he will face one of four Republican candidates...Romney, Gulliani, McCain and Huckabee...all but McCain benefit from being Washington outsiders as well, and I could see Romney and Huckabee also making a compelling case as change agents for America.

Gore's "100% absolutely no way in hell I'd put a thousand dollars on it" not running.

I don't think Bloomberg will either, and he's said as much every time he's been asked.

In another thread, I asked if anyone else was getting red flags when a Republican booster like Pabster was rooting for Obama. Nobody else seemed to have a problem with it.

The US I live in, there is a lot of tension, fear, hate, resentment between the races. The races seldom interact voluntarily. So the idea that the majority of white US citizens, particularly conservatives, would vote for Obama is alien to my experience with life in the US.

I see in the electorial college Obama carrying only Washington DC.
