4k a quarter? I graduated a couple of years ago and at that time it was 4k for the entire year. It couldn't have gone to 4k a quarter in such a short time, nor could it have stayed stagnant.

It stayed roughly stagnant. It is currently around 4k a year.

so they could up it by 4k to a total of 8k a year. BIT FUSKING DEAL. stop complainig. i pay $38,000.00+ a year. you have no right to complain

Anubis, well, I agree that 8,000 isnt a lot to pay in the grand scheme of things. But keep in mind that is 8000 before books and room and board. So total costs you are really talking about 20,000 or so. Keep in California is an expensive place to live in general. Also keep in mind that not all people can easily afford 38k a year.. :)

How many public universities does CA have? UCs, CSs, etc. They have so many. Why don't they close the lesser UCs? Berkeley and UCLA are good. Maybe they can keep 1 or 2 of the others that nobody outside of CA has heard of.

Wow for once they aren't making the out of state kids take the brunt of fee increases. My tuition was increased every single year I went there while I believe instate did not increase AT ALL. I think by my last year I was paying 3 times as much as regular students? I forget the exact number.

And deal with couple hundred thousand angry students? Hell no.

Haha, agreeded. Closing all the UCs would be the beginning of the "untelevised revolution."

In other words, things would not be pretty.

increase tuition to 6K a year, then cut enrollment by 30000 students.

finally ending the overcrowding in the school's dorms and classrooms

man, i cant stand all of those activist students right now. if they actually had a REAL cause to protest, it would be very, very nasty.

The way I see it, you have no right to complain. It's your option to attend a cheaper or more affordable school or choose to attend a school in a location with a lower cost of living. No one said you had to go somewhere that costs 38K a year.

Upping student fees by 4k would almost double the mandatory fees you would already be paying at UCLA.

it would be a large increase but 8k for a UC school is still a bargain in my opinion. I mean UCB and UCLA are really great schools but UCSD and UCI are also top notch schools in many fields. I'm surprised in 2 years they haven't raise tuition at all.

How does increasing tuition on out of state students help anyway?
Doesn't that discourage them from enrolling, which means even less funding?
