Einstein@Home was officially launched this morning at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting in Washington, DC, USA.
Einstein@home is using BOINC, and have therefore built-in caching, multi-cpu-support, built in service-install, and is also multi-project so can share with other projects.
For the project home-page, goto http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/
To create an account and automatically join Team Anandtech, the easiest is to choose this link http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/create_account_form.php?teamid=12
For configuring, especially note Einstein@home is currently using 7-day-deadline, and have a tendency to underestimate the crunch-time so will not recommend to set higher cache-setting than 3 days till made sure no problems with deadline.
If multi-project, would't use higher than 1-2 days.
A wu in Einstein@home contains 2 parts, one large 11 MB file and the wu that actually is only some command-line-parameters. Multiple wu will use the same large 11 MB file, so normally only expect 1-2 new huge files a month. 🙂
Einstein@home-wu is longer than in SETI@home, so expect 2x-3x as long cpu-time.
