Nobody is perfect, everyone's shit stinks, etc.

These things shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Greatness often comes at the expense of another quality in life. Joan of Arc and mental illness, for example. Hard to say whether there's an absolute right or wrong in situations like you post about. Would you have preferred great family men who contributed nothing to the sum of society?

You should see a professional about your daddy issues.

Bah, I'm only saying the perception of the aura of 'greatness' around 'great' people, is exaggerated.

People aren't 'great'. They just are.

Just because Einstein was a shit father doesn't mean he was an amazing human being. There are lots of shit fathers out there and most of them aren't shitty because they're to busy doing Einstein level work.

Great people never have great children, they generally do not have time for family and if you do not spent time with your kids and especially ignore them, they will not grow up to love you or be successful people. Moreover great people generally downplay their children and insult them in an effort to push them harder and they generally has adverse effect. There are exceptions though, Indira Gandhi.

People can be great at a few things, but like Eli said ... no one is perfect. Who cares if he wasn't a family man? They did some pretty epic things.

Ghandi was a disaster to the Indian people. He caused many unnecessary deaths, instilled national socialism, and drove away Western technology and investment.

The guy was the Indian version of the Taliban. He is directly responsible for all the problems India has now.
