Buy a self-driving car.

Give it to a 15-year-old to hack the firmware.

8 hours later, take flight and set a record for the number of violated FAA regulations in less than 23 minutes.

Some people have quadcopters with a GPS-based waypoint navigation system. But some of the users have reported a problem: The quad turns on, navigation kicks in, and in the "remain stationary mode" it takes off sideways and has to be shut off.

At 400lbs that's ultralight territory, yes? As in no license or anything, anybody can use it anytime. I'd definitely prefer to have manual controls, and remove all the other extra crap AC, interior lights, WiFi, etc.

Always thought it would be awesome to have a small ultralight you could toss in the back of a truck and go out to the woods. Nothing wrong with a limited flight time like 30 minutes...but if a gas motor wouldn't make it much heavier or more expensive then I would prefer that for quick easy "recharge" while in the woods.

If I understand the new drone rules, since it is over 55lbs and is a drone, not an ultralight (by it's multi-rotor design/layout), it would have to be registered as an aircraft.
