eh? wth. Formatting done in Excel 2007 is now unreadable in Excel 2003?

previously, when I used Excel 2007 and highlight some cells in "2007-unique" colors, I open the same file again with Excel 2003 and that particular highlight will still display. Now, along with other formatting (like Borders and Numeric/Text) done in 2007 will simply not show at all in 2003 environment. This happened yesterday on Friday and caused quite a stir as a few users with 2003 were shafted. What gives??!?

[edit]
wait, it appears to be an insolated incident...

[edit2]
problem solved:

what happened was, my coworker copy data from an excel file, went to Start menu and open up another Excel, and then paste it there. As a result, all formating went away, regardless in 2007 or 2003. Instead, she should have copy data, goto File and click New (or Ctrl-N), then paste the data.

That problem can be avoided if you SAVE AS "Excel 97-2003 .XLS format."

You can fix all by opening in Excel 2007 and doing a SAVE AS, and use the 97-2003 format.

wait, it appears to be an isolated case.
I replicated the issue with my home PC with Excel 2007, and no problem found.
This abnormaly seems to stem from one user, ie: all her 07 files saved in 03 will lost all formatting.

Here's another easy fix for that isolated person. Have her download and install the FREE MS Excel 2007 Viewer.

XLView

If all your minions and manions did that, you could use XL 2007 format all the way.
