Eggs go bad ?

The date on my carton of eggs says Feb 5. A friend of mine said that date doesn't really mean anything.

What do you guys think?

I assume the eggs have been kept refrigerated. If so they are fine. If you were to use them in baking, you would not get as good a rise in a cake, but for general consumption tis ok

if they are refrigerated and dont smell bad they are ok..crack one open and check it out..youll know if you have a bad egg

I thought eggs just produced the fluffyness found in Cakes. 😕

But yeah, what others have said.. If they were refridgerated, they are fine. You will know if the egg is bad when you crack it open.

I have used eggs that were 2 months passed the expiration date on the carton, and they were fine.

Way back in cooking school, we were told eggs are good for a month. If it's a sell by date, you should be fine. If it's an expiration date, you probably ought to stay away.

If you're a breakfast cook, old eggs are prefered. The don't break as easy when you flip them.

nono, he's party right
HARD BOILED EGGS can go well past the date... eggs right outta the little crate past the date = fscked.

Uh, all eggs will float. 😛

All eggs - yes, even fresh from the hens ass - contain an air pocket.

How can a rotten egg weigh less?
when an egg goes bad inside is a bacteria that creates a gas inside the shell, the gas forms a pocket and causes it to float.

No. If you look at a cross section of an egg, any egg... hummingbird to ostrich.. there is a distinct air bubble inside seperated by a membrane. The chick has to be able to breathe before it can get through the shell.

You can see it well when you hard boil and egg and take it apart. There is a flat spot on one end.

It's not enough to make it float, and it's a GAS that's enough to cause it to float, the natural air bubble is not enough to make the egg float.

OWNAGE!!!!! 😉 😛 😛 😀
