The medical and psychological screenings went very well, and the doctor is currently waiting to match my cycle with that of the recipient's. The physician who will be retrieving the eggs is extremely kind, and I'm very, very excited about the prospect of assisting an otherwise infertile couple.
I was looking through a picturebook of all these families with their new babies, and almost started crying (in a good way).
I'm reading through the 11-page contract right now... recitals include:
...
D. Donor has no desire to have any parental relationship with any Child born pursuant to this Agreement and believes and intends the Child is morally, ethically, and legally that of the Intended Parents. Donor relinquishes any and all rights and claims with respect to any Child born as a result of the egg donation which is subject of this Agreement. Donor also believes that any Child born pursuant to this Agreement should be raised without any interference by Donor, and without any retention or assertion of her rights whatsoever (including, without limitation, parental, custodial or visitation rights).
...
7. Donor's Conduct. Donor understands that the egg donation process involves the administration of various medications (by injection and orally) for prolonged periods of time and that these medications are costly. Donor agrees to adhere to all medical instructions given to her by the IVP Physician. Such medical instructions may include frequent ultrasound procedures, prolonged abstinence from sexual intercourse, refraining from tattooing, body piercing and elective or cosmetic surger, and discontinuance of strenuous exercise. Donor warrants that she will not drink alcoholic beverages or take any drugs or medications (prescription or otherwise) except in accordance with the instructions of the IVF Physician.
...
Etc., etc.
I hope I can still ski come December/January... other than that, I'm very happy and very much looking forward to the end result (not too excited about the daily injections, but I'll get through that).
Sample egg donor database, with more info/other donors.
