I have noticed a boom in the number of people who use snipping services to basically lock bids in closing seconds so that nobody else has a chance to get in. What is the general feeling about these?

I personally hate them, but I wanted to see what other people think about them. The only way I can see this being stopped is to stop displaying the exact time of the close of particular auctions.

it's fine with me

as long as your proxy bid is as much as you're willing to spend, there's nothing wrong with sniping

who cares if someone snipes at $31 when you snipe at $32.75... I always snipe my bids in at the last 45 seconds, then the last 15 in case I want to add a couple extra bucks.. couple times I got sniped but hey that's the game.

I hate them, but can't support banning them . . . I always use proxy bidding as intended . . . bid what I am I willing to pay.

I just hate getting all excited thinking I am going to win something for a great price and then getting sniped. Then I have to look at myself losing by $0.50 . . . wondering in agony what their max bid would have been. . . . but I'm starting to ramble.

I snipe myself. Except like, I play it safe and always like to be the winning bidder for the last 5 minutes or so.

Yep, bid what you're willing to pay and never let yourself get drawn into a bidding war. Proxy bidding will keep you from going nuts. C'est la vie.
