I didn't say it was the best deal ever - I said it was the best deal out there right now.

This is a very cool card, along the lines of a 5800U.

Has way better memory than a 6800NU, a better HSF than most GTs, and looks better than most 6800s.

All in all, not a bad deal at $419, has the "rare and cool" factor going for it.

Ok, I often agree with you when most don't, but I just can't follow you on this one. The only reason that this card might be rare is because it's overpriced, so no one buys it. As far as cool goes... I don't need to buy that...

Thus far, I am quite happy with my purchase. The V9999GE was actually in stock when I bought it, for a price that was lower than most of the GT, which were OOS with flakey ship dates at best.

The software bundle is better than some other cards I've bought in the past as well. Its got 7 full games, incluing Gunmetal, Dues Ex: IW, and War3:RoC.

Performance wise, its leaps and bounds ahead of my previous card, a Sapphire 9600 Pro.

As the GE benchmark link posted shows, the V9999GE also comes with two molex connectors and can OC to 420Mhz(I haven't yet).

From the conclusion of the Gamer's Depot Article:

"At under $400 dollars, this card offers gamers quite a nice bang-for-the-buck scenario that transcends what we would normally expect for a 12-pipe solution based on current GPU technology. It also offers 256 Megabytes of Ram whereas most 6800-solutions come with 128MB ? count in the fact that they?ve included what we feel to be one of the most complete bundles available and you?ll begin to see why we feel it?s the most comprehensive offering of its kind.

Surely you can find cheaper GeForce 6800?s out there ? but few offer the stability of overclocking, 256MB of RAM and overall value of the ASUS V9999 "Gamer Edition" ? that?s a moniker that ASUS should be proud of as it is truly targeted for Gamers.

GT cards do perform better, however, they cost upwards of $100 dollars more and may not offer enough performance gains to justify the added expense to some folks ? that said, the V9999GE is a value by and standard"

Again, its got almost GT level performance, its about 100 dollars less than a GT, and last, but definitely not least, I actually have the card. There are a lot of people still waiting for their GTs and Ultras to ship.

OK. we know thats not true. They have the same MSRP as the GT. Availability can be a factor, but GT's are fairly available now and Outpost even has $499Ultras in stock today. Congrats on the new card, and its definately a step above any othe standard 6800, its just not a "value" buy.

The V9999 GE 6800NU would be a good deal at ~$350. At the same price as a GT though, there's no reason to purcahse.

It's not. This is the biggest ripoff ever.

It has 350gpu/1000 memory, but it is still slower than GT because it only has 12 pipes and not 16, but costs more.

Yeah the problem is it costs $489 on the website, not 419. Even at 419 it's a ripoff.

I'd be interested in talking to anybody who purchased the ASUS V9999 Gamer Edition video card thinking it had 16 pipelines as Asus claims. The card most assuredly only has 12 pipelines as confirmed by Maximum PC.

If you're one of the unfortunate souls who got stuck with this overpriced thing, shoot me a PM and we'll see if we can't force ASUS to put the situation right.
