Effing Mosquitoes, how do they work?

ATOT: Imagine you are a much smarter and better looking version of Yahoo! Answers. I expect a well rounded and easy to implement response to my question.

What is the best way to remove mosquitoes from my backyard? I was outside for no longer than 20 minutes and I swear I was bitten 20+ times. I had 2 citronella candles burning no farther than 1' away from me on each side. It had no effect on these mongrels.

I don't really want to use a spray every time I go outside. Would much prefer a more permanent solution to these blasphemous creatures.

I found these on amazon but I am not sure how well they work for mosquitos.

Help a brutha out ATOT

Your link seems to be borked. Won't load for me.

Are there any puddles of standing water around your yard, or in the neighbor's? That's where they breed, so getting rid of the water will help immensely. You can get little floaters at your local hardware store, which makes standing water inhospitable to breeding mosquitoes.

And put up some bat houses. Bats looove to eat mosquitoes.

I have a good friend who works in a large mosquito control agency in New Jersey. He tells me that mosquitoes don't travel far from where they spawn. So like the poster above said, scour the environment for any stagnant water. It can be something as large as a pond, or as small as a kid's sand bucket sitting in the backyard. Getting rid of standing water is the most effective thing you can do.

Bug-a-salt those bastards! No seriously though fuck mosquitos. Off! Makes a belt clip mosquito repellant, I'm not sure how well it works but it might be worth a shot. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Off-Mosqui...e-Set/16200187

LP = Liquid Propane
Are you sure you're an American? Check your local Home Depot, Loews or, other local home improvement store. I know it means leaving the basement but, I have confidence in you. 🙂

I haven't read the thread, but I saw this post and thought I should say this:
I've never heard of propane referred to as "LP." I think of "long play," "lithium polymer," "lumbar puncture," "let's play," or "learner's permit," when I see that.

Well, we already know you're not an American. 😀 See what happens when you never leave the basement? And you live in Georgia too. Son, I am disappoint.

Here you go so neither have an aneurism brought on by dealing with the real world. You know, the one that still exists when you turn off your computer?

Mosquitoes...yea, my great-grandfather won the Lasker award in 1950 for this. Just periodically raise and lower the water level surrounding your property.

In your link, they just call it "propane" (like most of the USA).

They need to do away with insane mothers, who kill their babies because these babies can't fight back.
It was on the news this morning; a mother in Arkansas who had kill her three kids. They are taking the three babies back to new york to lay to rest. My prayers are with the father who lost his children. I am truly sorry for your loss.
