Efficiency of a power supply?

Look for 80% efficiency - typical for so called 80+ units or green power supplies. Also APFC is good to have however I don't think you're going to find either on a bargain priced unit.

70% is a pretty typical efficiency rating. As noted above, 80% and higher is considered good.

actually I think JonnyGURU supported what I am going to say on his forums....

There is more than just an efficiency rating when choosing a PSU!!

First the difference is very minimal when it comes to saving money over a years time or even monthly on your electric bill say between a PSU rated 73-75% and a PSU rated 80%!!

Also just because you get a PSU that is rated over 80% does not have any bearing on the longevity pf the PSU or the quality and workmanship of the PSU!!

I would rather have a PSU that is rated 75% that is going to last a few years rather than have a PSU rated over 80% that 6 months to a year from now I will be doing an RMA on the thing!!


80+ is real good!!
But has nothing to do with qua;ity or workmanship or for that matter will it still be rated 80+ after being heavily used 3 months from now....
