Effects of under powering a chip

To reduce heat, I changed my VCore to 1.75 on my Athlon (Green core) 1000mhz chip. I know upping the voltage can cause premature frying of the chip, but can lowering the voltage have any adverse effects? Also, how much lower can I go while maintaining stability? I cannot imagine much more.

BTW, it lowered my chip, under full load, seven to eight degrees Fahrenheit.

I think you should probably keep your voltage where it is. This is because the CPU will probably need the voltage to run... and by lowering it, you may cause some instability.

My tbird 700 has a default vcore of 1.7, but I run it at 1.6 because there is a noticeable temp difference, yet it is still stable. With 1.55 I get very rare crashes - too rare to figure out for sure if its windows or the cpu. If I run it at 500, it is stable at 1.3 vcore, and there is no lower vcore setting to test.
